You know, I had a great time at church yesterday and I am not ashamed to say so...I know that we should not attend church for the sole reason of getting something out of it, but every now and again, I think it's OK to say wow! that was great! (Actually I think we should say it more often)
Now you might ask, now Vince, what was it that made this such a great experience for you? I would have to simply reply, its when the church is truley the church...we had one of those moments yesterday and I want to celebrate, cherish and remember it...it's who we really are and are supposed to be.
It was not in the music experience, although that went well. It was not in the message that we heard, although, that was also right on target. It wasn't even in the great video's we saw that are always well timed and very helpful...no, the best moment I had yesterday lasted for less than 5 minutes and occured at the very end of the service...
It was when we all stood together and prayed for those going down to Mississippi this weekend. I can't put my finger on it exactly but when we were together, we were together. I could see it for brief moment, but in an awesome and incredible, I saw many people, with many different background, many different gifts, many different problems united for one purpose, to do the work that Jesus gave us to do. Wow! was that an awesome picture! The church was being the church...I look forward to more of these moments and be encourage with these words that encouraged me today from scripture:
" Follow anything that makes you want to do what is right. Pursue faith and love and peace and enjoy the companionship of those who call on the Lord with a pure heart."
God Bless you all,
Vince
